Accessing Broadband Services: Requirements
- A good, powerful computer (preferably no more than 1-2 years old)
- Relevant and current software (this will either come pre-installed on your computer or your broadband service carrier should provide it)
- The means to connect to the technology, which would mean a modem/router for a DSL service or a cable modem for cable service (this will either be specified by your broadband service carrier or supplied by them as part of the installation package along with any network cards which are necessary)
- A service package from your broadband service carrier, which offers unmetered access, 24 hour telephone support off a local rate or free telephone number and a comprehensive service definition
- Improved security on your computer
Remember that you can continue to use your existing ISP(s) to access email and other services.
