The "always on" aspect of broadband brings with it one major extra responsibility.

It introduces a new element of insecurity to which you must respond.

Very few computer users can be unaware of the threat posed by viruses. Hardware and software can be replaced. Information, which is the lifeblood of a business or could be of great sentimental value in the domestic arena, is much more difficult to restore if it is destroyed, lost or corrupted.

On top of this, broadband brings with it the possibility of infiltration by an external source - possibly a hacker.
